When I was younger, model building was very popular for school aged kids. After wooden blocks, and lego's, models and building kits were the next big thing to master. To this day, I love building things and putting together models but it doesn't seem nearly as popular today as it was back then and that's a shame. They teach children how to build, how things work, patience, problem solving and gives them a great sense of accomplishment when they are done.
